LE MANS, France (AP) — Actor Patrick Dempsey at long last got on the platform at the 24 Hours Le Mans perseverance race, finishing second in the GTE Amateur classification on Sunday.
The 49-year-old American, a long-lasting star of "Dark's Anatomy," was one of three drivers in the Dempsey-Proton Porsche 911 RSR group.
Dempsey is a colossal motorsports fan and was driving Le Mans for the fourth time, however this was his first main three finish. He has also contended in the Rolex 24 at Daytona continuance race.
The on-screen character was enthusiastic when speaking to French television after the race.
"I believe its difficult to articulate the amount it means to be on the platform in Le Mans. Sensational exertion and support from Porsche," Dempsey said. "It's an astonishing accomplishment, you always dream about moments like this. I've worked truly hard throughout the last three years to get this going and I'm here. Vive la France!"
Dempsey's teammates were kinsman Patrick Long and Germany's Marco Seefried.

The fundamental race was won for a record 17th time by Porsche — its first triumph since 1998. The triumphant auto included Formula One driver Nico Hulkenberg of Germ
