2 hurt in shooting near Arkansas Air Force base, Two individuals were hospitalized after shots were shot when a non military personnel attempted to increase unapproved access to the Little Rock Air Force Base Monday morning.
The base said the suspect was transported to a neighborhood hospital in basic condition. A bystander was also transported for non-related therapeutic care and was released.
The base went on lockdown after the episode.
Jacksonville Police Sgt. Dustin Brown said the suspect had endeavored to obtain entrance to the base, which is in Jacksonville and around 15 miles northeast of Little Rock. A bomb squad was checking a green SUV stopped close to a visitor focus at the base's fundamental door.
The air base closed its gates to inbound and outbound activity after the 9:15 a.m. occurrence.
"Base officials will keep on organizing with Jacksonville Police Department, the Air Force Office of Special Investigation and the FBI," a statement from the base said.
