Yoko Says John Lennon Was Bisexual But Never Found A Man Good Enough To Bang, Yoko Ono is opening up about her marriage to John Lennon—offering up some interesting, although not entirely surprising, revelations about her late, great, husband.
The experimental artist sat down for a candid interview with The Daily Beast, during which she shared that The Beatles legend was bisexual, but didn’t ever act on his man lust proclivity, because he never found a man good enough.
Oh, we so feel your pain Mr. Lennon.

According to Ono, Lennon believed that basically we are all bisexual deep down, but choose not to act on our desires because of social conditioning.
“John and I had a big talk about it, saying, basically, all of us must be bisexual,” Ono says. “And we were sort of in a situation of thinking that we’re not [bisexual] because of society. So we are hiding the other side of ourselves, which is less acceptable.”

The 82-year-old went on to say that she’s never engaged in any same sex activity, out of conscious choice, explaining, “I don’t have a strong sexual desire towards another woman” —but, that she believes Lennon didn’t because he just couldn’t find an attractive, and all round stimulating, enough potential male partner.
“I think he had a desire to, but I think he was too inhibited,” she says. “No, not inhibited. He said, ‘I don’t mind if there’s an incredibly attractive guy.’ It’s very difficult: They would have to be not just physically attractive, but mentally very advanced too. And you can’t find people like that.”

Meanwhile, Ono shot down the age old rock rumor that Lennon had an affair with Beatles’ manager, Brian Epstein—who was publicly in the closet, but out to friends and family, and died from a drugs overdose in 1967.
There’s no doubting that the two enjoyed a close platonic relationship over the years—Epstein was best man at Lennon’s first marriage to Cynthia Powell, and was godfather to their son, Julian—but, as to whether they also enjoyed a sexual relationship, it all comes down to speculation and unsubstantiated reports.

It’s long been rumored that Lennon and Epstein engaged in a brief but passionate tryst during a four day vacation in Spain back in 1963—but, Lennon always insisted that although their relationship was incredibly “intense” it was never actually sexual.
“Well, it was almost a love affair, but not quite. It was never consummated … but we did have a pretty intense relationship,” Lennon told Playboy back in 1980.
Powell also maintained that Lennon’s relationship with Epstein was purely platonic, a view that his second wife agrees with.

“The beginning of the year [John] was killed, he said to me, ‘I could have done it, but I can’t because I just never found somebody that was that attractive,’” Ono says. “Both John and I were into attractiveness—you know—beauty.”
Well, we have to say that attractiveness is usually a pretty important factor when it comes to choosing a sexual partner—but then, perhaps we’re just old fashioned like that.
