'What is the Ballad of Turd Ferguson?' Jeopardy contestant pranks Alex Trebek

'What is the Ballad of Turd Ferguson?' Jeopardy contestant pranks Alex Trebek, The only thing more embarrassing than not knowing the answer during Final Jeopardy is whatever Alex Trebek must feel when the buttoned-up but always game host was conned into uttering the words “Turd Ferguson”.

That’s exactly what happened on Wednesday night’s broadcast of the long-running game show. When a contestant didn’t know the answer to a question about which 1999 Oscar-nominated song had a word censored from its performance, she wrote down the mock answer (which is really a question, but you know how Jeopardy works): “What is the Ballad of Turd Ferguson?”

This is a reference to the Saturday Night Live parody of Celebrity Jeopardy where Norm McDonald impersonates Burt Reynolds but wants Alex to call him Turd Ferguson because he thinks the name is hilarious. And who doesn’t want to see Trebek, America’s third-favorite Canadian export behind maple syrup and Celine Dion singles, say the words “

Turd Ferguson” with a completely straight face.Of course, this isn’t the first time that a contestant has given a ridiculous answer on the show and not even the first time that a Final Jeopardy answer has been linked to a Jeopardy parody. Once, a stumped contestant answered “Kebert Xela”, which is Trebek’s name backwards. According to Family Guy, uttering this name is supposed to send Trebek back to his home dimension. Luckily it did not, because there is only one formerly-mustachioed man who could outlast all of these pranksters, and it’s Trebek.
