Chrissy Teigen on fertility issues: 'Stop asking me!', Things got very real yesterday on FABLife when Chrissy Teigen brought up how much it bothers her when interviewers ask when she and her husband, John Legend, are going to have kids.
"It's kind of crazy becuase I can't imagine being that nosy to be like "So, when are the kids coming?" Because who knows what somebody is going through? Who knows if somebody is struggling to have children?" Tiegen said, complaining that she could expect to be asked the question everytime she sits down for an interview.
The model went on to explain that she and Legend would have had kids five or six years ago if they could and that they have seen fertility specialists.
"One day you're gonna ask that to the wrong girl who is really struggling, and it's gonna be hurtful to them. And I hate that. I hate it. Stop asking me!" Tiegen yelled to a roar of applause.
Inspired by Tiegen's impassioned speech Tyran Banks opened up about her own struggles in what she said was an unplanned confession.
"I'm so tired of seeing on my social media 'Why don't you have kids? Why don't you have kids?' You dont know!" The supermodel said as she began to get emotional. "You don't know! You don't know what I'm going through you have no idea!"
Banks, who is 41-years-old, went on to explain how after repeatedly putting off having kids over the years she found herself facing the difficulty of trying to have children as an older woman.
The normally taboo subject of fertility and the struggle women face in trying to conceive children has recently come into the spotlight. This is thanks in part to not only Chrissy Tiegen and Tyra Banks frank and honest confessions, but Kim Kardashian's as well.
"I didn’t know that I was going to be so open with [my fertility challenges]. But meeting people at my fertility doctor’s office who are going through the same things I’m going through, I thought, Why not share my story?" Kardashian told Glamour Magazine. "It’s been really emotional.... There are definitely times when I walked out [of the doctor’s office] hysterically crying."
