Cheryl Burke splits, Cheryl Burke and JT Torregiani have called it quits after less than a year of dating, sources confirm to E! News.
The Dancing With the Stars pro and her businessman boyfriend were friends for years before taking their relationship to the next step last year, but have decided to end their romance. He was noticeably absent from Burke's birthday festivities on May 3. She had posted several pics from her celebrations, which included some of her DWTS "fam" and other gal-pals such as Leah Remini.
She Instagrammed her fun night out at Blind Dragon, captioning a couple of pics, "My girls @leahremini & @kelly_m23 out for my birthday! #CB2015 #birthday #31" and "Celebrating my 31st with some of my @dancingabc fam, @artemchigvintse, @kymjohnson1, & @robertherjavec! #birthday #friends #CB2015."
Prior to Torregiani, Burke was linked to Cougar Town actor Josh Hopkins. Torregiani, who owns hotspots such as Warwick and Aventine, previously dated Paula Abdul.
Burke, 31, actually decided to hang up her dancing shoes as she is set to join NBC's new variety show, I Can Do That. She will be starring with Joe Jonas and Ciara. She broke the news on Good Morning America.
"As of now, this is probably going to be my last season," Burke said. "I started when I'm 20. I'm 30. I want to try new things and just see what's out there."
Although she said "probably" at the time, we later found out it would become a "definitely."
She continued to tease fans by saying she would consider joining the judges' panel like fellow pro dancer Julianne Hough. "This is my family. I've been a part of the show for the last decade...If they would ask me to be a judge, I'd love to," Burke said.
She won the competition show twice, in seasons two and three.
She had made headlines last year after revealing she had lost 15 pounds by making some tweaks in her diet. When people started posting mean comments, she defended herself and called for more "love" when it comes to body image.
"It's not about chasing a number on the scale, and it's not about Hollywood," she explained in a Facebook post. "We will all face criticism throughout our lives, no matter where we live and what we weigh. So if you're struggling with that, you're not alone. Not at all."
She continued, "My weight fluctuates, just like any other person's does, and there will always be critics. You've got to tune out the other people and tune in to what's going on inside. Love yourself. Nourish your body. Be kind to one another."
