Bruce Willis Cannes, Bruce Willis is returning to the comedy genre with an untitled project from the same people who wrote Cop Out.
According to Deadline, Willis is reuniting with Mark and Robb Cullen for a film about a private investigator whose dog gets kidnapped. The Cullen brothers will also produce and direct the feature.
In the film, Bruce Willis plays a private investigator whose dog gets kidnapped by gang members. In an attempt to get his pet back, Willis’ character finds himself in trouble with gang leaders and other notorious characters.
Voltage Pictures is financing the film, and filming is scheduled to begin in June. Also producing with the Cullen brothers are Nicholas Chartier, Zev Foreman, and Laura Ford. Chartier called the project “perfect” for Bruce Willis.
“Once I sat in a room with Mark and Robb and heard their vision, I was convinced they would deliver a killer fun fast-paced, cool, action comedy. This is the perfect film for Bruce, going back to his great roles in The Whole Nine Yards and Pulp Fiction.”
The Cullens noted that they were looking forward to working with the 60-year-old actor.
“We are thrilled to be working with Voltage Pictures and excited for the opportunity to direct one of the biggest movie stars of all time in Bruce Willis.”
After the success of films such as Looper and Moonrise Kingdom, Willis went on to star in four sequels in a row. Unfortunately, none of them were major box office successes. According to Box Office Mojo, Willis starred in A Good Day to Die Hard, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Red 2, and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For – all of which underperformed in the United States. With the exception of A Dame to Kill For, all of those films did find some success in overseas markets.
The last time that Bruce Willis and the Cullen brothers worked together was for the Kevin Smith-directed comedy, Cop Out. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the film didn’t perform well with critics, having scored a 19 percent approval rating with 30 of the 158 reviews counted as fresh.
And while Willis is known for playing tough characters, in real life, he has been known to shed some tears. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Bruce Willis admitted to getting a little teary-eyed when he saw his daughter, Rumer Willis, performing on Dancing with the Stars.
“I’m very proud of her. The most exciting thing for me was how she looked when she got done dancing and stepped off stage. I love seeing her happy like that. She makes me cry.”
