According to a CBP press release dated May 3, 2013, Omar Mohammad Omar, 40, of Pemba, Tanzania, was sentenced on April 26, to 48 months of incarceration for the illegal importation of a controlled substance. CBP agents found about 7 pounds of heroin in the lining of his suitcase.

The heroin was estimated to have a street value of approximately $225,000.

The CBP reports that, during the fiscal year of Oct. 1, 2011 through Sept. 30, 2012, their agents at Dulles intercepted 16 such heroin smuggling cases with a total of over 61 pounds.
