2 children kidnapped 30 years ago found safe hundreds of miles away, State police said two children who were abducted more than 30 years ago have been located -- and they are safe.
In August of 1985, two young girls disappeared. They were living in Warwick, Rhode Island, with their father at the time.
Thanks to an anonymous tip received around Christmastime, Kelly and Kimberly Yates have been found living hundreds of miles away in Houston, Texas.
They are now 32 and 35 years old, according to WJAR. Both appear to be in good health.
Their non-custodial mother, Elaine Yates, now faces two counts of child snatching.
Police have had a warrant for her arrest since 1988, but she escaped their detection up to this point by using an alias, according to WJAR.
Rhode Island State Police said that both daughters have been interviewed and given the contact information of their father. A spokesperson told WJAR they were "surprised."
