Santa Claus running for office in Alaska's North Pole, A man whose acknowledged name is Santa Claus is active for a City Council bench in the tiny Alaska boondocks of North Pole.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner (http://is.gd/xdaqmI) letters Claus has launched a applicant attack for the office. Claus, whose driver's authorization bears his acknowledged name of Santa Claus, is the above admiral of the North Pole Chamber of Commerce.

Two seats on the City Council are up for election. No one filed for office, however, during the approved filing period.
