Rosie O'Donnell and Tatum O'Neal Are No Longer Dating, Rosie O'Donnell and Tatum O'Neal have split, PEOPLE has learned.
"They broke up. It wasn't working. In their four months together, they went through a lot: Rosie's father died, her daughter [Chelsea] ran away, there was a lot of of tumult. It was too much," a source tells PEOPLE. The source added that they were hanging out and had "seen each other on both coasts, in Nyack and in Los Angeles," and both O'Donnell and O'Neal dropped hints on social media about their connection in September.
On Sept. 17, the pair was spotted boating together near O'Donnell's home in West Palm Beach, Florida.
"They seem crazy about each other," the source told PEOPLE at the time. "It's mutual. They've been seeing each other for about three months. They have known each other for many years but this has turned into more than a friendship."
The source also added that this was O'Neal's first relationship in a long time. The actress went through a tumultuous divorce from John McEnroe, who is the father to their three now-adult children.
"Tatum wouldn't mind meeting a nice girl. She is back on the market," the source told PEOPLE on Friday.
