The extent of Odom's brain damage is still unclear at this point, and his chances for a full recovery remain grim. Lamar's estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, has not left his side since the former Los Angeles Laker was hospitalized Oct. 13. Khloe has vowed to stay with Odom through his recovery.
Lamar was found unconscious Oct. 13 after spending $79,000 over four days at the Love Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada, a legal brothel. Odom had "mucus-type liquid coming out of his nose and mouth" when he was found unresponsive on a bed.
Shortly after his hospitalization, Lamar was put on a ventilator and on dialysis after his heart, lung and kidneys started failing. Odom was declared brain dead Oct. 14 and was given only a 50/50 chance of survival, but miraculously woke up from his coma on Oct. 16 and has since steadily improved.
Doctors discovered Lamar had taken 10 herbal Viagra pills, as well as crack cocaine and large amounts of alcohol during a four-day drug binge at the Vegas brothel. Needle marks were found on one of his arms, and Lamar suffered several strokes at the hospital.Odom, 35, has a tragic family history: His father was a heroin addict and his mother died of cancer when Lamar was 12. In 2006, Lamar's 6½-month-old son, Jayden, died from SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
