Burt Reynolds, Willy Wonka kids headline Spooky Empire's 13th edition, For most of us, to reach the 10-year anniversary of any sort is a major accomplishment. However, if you are talking about a horror convention,"13" is actually the more special milestone. Spooky Empire has been one of the top horror conventions, not only in the US, but also worldwide, as they often attract fans from across the globe. From October 30-November 1 Spooky Empire's Ultimate Halloween Weekend will be celebrating their 13th year of existence and they're putting together their best edition yet. Their guest list alone is arguably the best and most unique they’ve ever had as Neve Campbell, Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard from the original "Scream”. All the kids from the original "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" and Hollywood icon Burt Reynolds will be there.
The first question you may be asking yourself is, "What does Burt Reynolds have to do with the horror genre?" The short answer to that question is, "Nothing." He has some movies that can be classified as thrillers and in his later years he has been in a horror movie (Hollow Creek), but when you think of horror movies or TV shows, Burt Reynolds is not someone you would think about. That doesn't matter because this is what has separated Spooky Empire from all the other horror conventions, they think out of the box. They innovate and bring in unusual guests the other horror conventions don’t. The first priority Petey and Gina Mongelli (the founders to Spooky Empire) have is to give their fans something they have not yet experienced and bring in guests they can't find at other conventions. They were the first to bring in cast members from "The Walking Dead." The other cast that blew the roof off the building at one of their May-Hem events was when they brought in the cast from "Once Upon a Time." So, no, Burt Reynolds is not a "horror guy," but you can be sure he is going to have massive lines of fans during his time in Orlando.
