American Airlines Booed, Several passengers aboard an American Airlines flight "booed" an attendant who reportedly bullied a sobbing woman and then had her booted her off the plane, video shows.
Footage of the flight from Phoenix to Portland surfaced Sunday, showing the moment furious fliers jeered at the crew for kicking the woman off the plane after she didn't hear an attendant's request to move out of the aisle."Shame on American!" one passenger can be heard saying.
"Screw this airline!" another shouts.
The unidentified woman was captured pleading with a female flight attendant who asked her to "come off the aircraft" and then threatened to call authorities if she didn't heed the orders.
"Are you serious?" the weeping woman asks. "This can't be legal, I didn't do anything."
The incident came after a male flight attendant asked her to sit down to clear the aisle before takeoff, but she didn't hear him, according to KATU News.
"You're so mean to me. I didn't do anything," the woman says to him.
"If you don't come off, I'm going to have to call the officers" the female flight attendant says.
Fellow passengers erupt into boos in her defense. Some say it's the last time they'll fly with American Airlines.
"Never again," one man says.
"This is horrible," another passenger chimes in.
"You just lost a lot of customers," another can be heard saying.
Passenger Bill Byrne, who recorded the ejection, said it stemmed from a miscommunication between the female customer and the crew.
"I've seen people who deserve that but never actually seen somebody thrown off a plane," he told KATU."It was nuts, and that poor woman was so upset,” he added. “She handled it well, but you could tell it was super embarrassing for her."
American Airlines said in a statement it's "looking into this incident to better understand what happened."
The woman was rebooked on the next flight, the company said.
