Weekend shootings leave 6 dead, 31 wounded, Police found a 38-year-old man bleeding from head and shoulder wounds in an SUV on the Northwest Side early Monday morning while two pre-teen children sat with him in the car.
He was the 37th person shot since Friday afternoon across the city, according to police. Six of the 37 died from their wounds, including a 19-year-old woman and a 20-year-old woman shot in the early hours of Sunday.
The 38-year-old was in an SUV in an alley in the 3700 block of North when someone stepped out of another SUV, shouted gang slogans and fired two .22 caliber rounds, hitting the man in the back of his head and chest. The man's SUV fled to the intersection of Cicero and Wellington avenues, where police found the gunshot victim.
He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition. The man's family arrived one or two at a time after learning he had been shot and walked down the block past the crime scene to a Spanish-speaking officer who explained to them what was happening.
Of the 31 shot, six of them were wounded Sunday night into Monday morning. Five others, aside from the 38-year-old shot on the Northwest Side, were wounded on the city's South and West sides overnight.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
-Someone shot a 15-year-old boy outside Fosco Park in the University Village / Little Italy neighborhood about 9:20 p.m. The boy is in critical condition at Stroger Hospital. It's not clear how the boy came to be shot.
-A 23-year-old man walked into Jackson Park Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg after someone shot him in the West Englewood neighborhood about 8:45 p.m. He was sitting in a parked SUV when someone approached and fired into his truck, hitting him in the leg. His condition has been stabilized.
-Earlier, an 18-year-old man was injured at 8:20 p.m. on the 4300 block of South Mozart Street in the Brighton Park neighborhood, police said. The man was shot in the back and leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, according to police. The 18-
