TI Iggy Azalea: Artist Ends Business Ties With Iggy After Too Much Alleged Drama, TI and Iggy Azalea are no longer working together after they partnered to make money and built for their respective futures. She took to her official Twitter account to respond after the “Whatever You Like” singer said that he severed ties with her, according to International Business Times.
Azalea, 25, initially said she was still in a publishing deal with TI, 34, but then later dropped all discussion about it by talking about the weather. Iggy never confirmed the partnership split.
During a recent interview with Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning, the Hustle Gang leader was asked about his relationship with the “Fancy” rapper, whose career he helped launch. Although there doesn’t appear to be bad blood, the artist does acknowledge her hype has taken “a bit of a rest stop” and cites numerous instances that led to a wedge between them.
TI and Iggy Azalea’s business relationship slowly soured after her issue with Q-Tip. That incident led to an expected Twitter brawl that went down last December.
“After the Q-Tip thing, I kind of smoothed it over. Everything was cool,” he said with a frustrated smile. “Then, they came and kind of undid what I had (fixed).” The ATL OG repeatedly refers to her as “they” throughout the interview, until Ebro finally questions whether he’s referring to her team.
“The world of Iggy Azalea. She is the nucleus, but there are a lot of other pieces around – including myself – that keep that machine working. And I feel like they have all the tools necessary to evolve beyond those situations,” TI stated.
Notably, Q-Tip doesn’t throw total shade at his former protege, suggesting she didn’t really have a fair hand. “She had a lot thrown at her at one time,” he said. “Any human being anywhere going to have a hard time adjusting. It’s very difficult to be the new kid and to be the butt of the jokes and the direction of all the negativity.”
TI explains her case further, reminding us of Azalea’s Australian background and her unexpected introduction to our hesitant society. “(Iggy) came at a time when culturally, this nation – she’s not from here – we were actually looking for somewhere to place some pent up aggression.” His argument may have some validity, but that doesn’t make her swagger jacking and brazen ignorance any less tolerable.The rapper added that once he came to her rescue after she got into a heated Twitter feud with Q-Tip, he had to step back and let the her grow as an artist. He feels that she and her creative team have the tools necessary to evolve from those negative situations.
While TI and Iggy Azalea have officially parted ways, the two aren’t talking. Even so, it doesn’t spell the end for the singer or the rapper as they have other projects in the works.
