Queen Elizabeth Watches 'Downton Abbey' And Points Out The Mistakes!

Queen Elizabeth Watches 'Downton Abbey' And Points Out The Mistakes!, Don't mess with Queen Elizabeth II when it comes to the historical accuracy of "Downton Abbey." For one thing, the Queen is intimately familiar with the historic locale where "Downton Abbey" is filmed, Highclere Castle.

The royal matriarch is apparently a big fan of the series, and according to her biographer, she loves looking for mistakes when tuning in to the popular series. Brian Hoey, author of "At Home With The Queen," revealed to People that although the program has a historical advisor, the Queen "loves to pick out the mistakes." But there aren't too many of them. He added, "They do tend to get it right. However, the Queen did notice on one episode that there was a young so-called British officer wearing medals which had not been awarded when he was supposed to be alive. He was fighting in the First World War and the medals on his chest did not come in until the Second World War." The reign of "Downton Abbey," however, is coming to a close.

The upcoming sixth season will be its last. The show centers on the lives of the Crawley family and their servants, who live in a sprawling, lavish Edwardian mansion and park nestled in the lush North Yorkshire landscape. British network ITV, which produces "Downton Abbey," will air the final season starting Sept. 20. American audiences are able to watch the series on PBS starting in January.  Meanwhile, on Sept. 9 the Queen is hosting a family dinner at her home in Balmoral, Scotland. The event will celebrate her longevity on the throne. Her rule will surpass that of great-great grandmother Queen Victoria, who held the royal position for 63 years and 213 days.
