King cobra owner cited for failure to immediately report snake missing, FWC says, The owner of a venomous king cobra has been cited for failing to immediately report the snake missing, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.FWC officials said Mike Kennedy realized that the snake had escaped from his Orlando home on North Apopka Vineland Road when he returned from a two-day trip last week, but didn't report it missing until the next day.
He has been ordered to pay a $366 fine within 30 days, documents said. He is also due in court on Oct. 7.
Kennedy is the star of Discovery channel's "Airplane Repo" and licensed to house animals, including the cobra, officials said.
FWC said the search for the snake is ongoing.
