Home Intruder Shot, According to a new report from stltoday.com, the 11-year-old who fatally shot a home intruder may have invited the victim over.

The newspaper reports the victim was 16 years old and died of a lone gunshot wound to the head. Only one of two intruders was shot, as originally reported.

A neighbor, who witnessed the incident from across the street, told the local paper it wasn't a break-in.

Police also saw no signs of forced entry on the front door, the report said.

Police would not confirm or deny the home invasion component of the incident.

An 11-year-old boy who was home alone with his sister, 4, shot and killed one of two intruders who broke into the house through the front door, police said.

Officers said the suspects tried to get in twice, unsuccessfully, before pushing through the front door of the North St. Louis County home.

When they did push through, the boy picked up a gun and shot one of them, a 16-year-old who died of his wounds at the scene, police said.

Police said the gun belonged to the boy’s mother, who owned it for protection.

The second intruder fled the scene but was arrested a short time later, police said.
