Eleven-year-old shoots intruder: 16-year-old dead with one shot to head, An 11-year-old boy was home alone with his four-year-old sister when two intruders tried to break into their St. Louis, Missouri house several times. The 11-year-old-boy killed the 16-year-old invader with one shot to the head on Thursday afternoon, according to Fox News on Friday.
When the the intruders finally got into the house through an unlocked door, the child shot and killed one suspect with one bullet from the gun the mother said she had bought to protect them from intruders. The mother was interviewed by investigators. St. Louis County police spokesman Sgt. Brian Schellman described her as cooperative.
Police said it was on the third attempt that the intruders entered the home and was shot. The body of Lamonte Streeter was found in the front foyer. The 16-year-old intruder lived just a couple of blocks away. No one else was hurt in the incident. The second suspect, a 22-year-old fled the scene after he heard the shot. He was later taken into custody and remains jailed on suspicion of burglary.
ABC reported that some neighbors take issue with the account of what happened. Neighbors don't believe the pair did not attempt to break into the house because there was no signs of forced entry. Some neighbors told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that they witnessed the shooting and there was no break-in. Donna Jackson said she saw the 11-year-old shoot the 16-year-old at point-blank range as they talked near the front door. Jackson insisted it was not a break-in.
Jazmyne Clark, 18, who lives two doors from the shooting, said the 11-year-old was on the front porch when he told the 16-year-old to approach him. When the 16-year-old reached the front door, the younger boy shot him. Prosecutors are reviewing the case to determine if charges should be filed against the 11-year-old shooter. Even though Clark says the teen was never in the house, Schellman said evidence indicated the shooting happened inside.
A relative of the shooter doubts the break-in story. She calls it unlikely to happen in the middle of the day the way it has been told since so many neighbors were out and about at the time. Police are investigating why the children were home alone and why the mother found it necessary to leave an 11-year-old at home with a gun.
