Charges Against 'American Idol' Constantine Maroulis Dismissed, Charges against American Idol season 4 alum Constantine Maroulis were dismissed in court on Wednesday night (Sept. 16).
Maroulis was charged with allegedly kicking his ex-girlfriend and mother of his 4-year-old daughter, Angel Reed, in the groin after an argument in August. He was arrested a second time for violating a restraining order when he allegedly sent Reed an email.
The singer and his lawyer, John Hogan, both appeared in Wyckoff Municipal Court in Wyckoff, NJ before Judge Russel B. Teschon, reports Wyckoff Patch.com.Hogan informed the judge that Maroulis and Reed agreed to separate, and a plea arrangement was arranged. The charges were dismissed on the condition that no other complaints are filed for six months.
Maroulis was arrested Aug. 12 after Reed accused him of pushing her to the ground and kicking her in the groin. He said it was self-defense after she threw things at him and injured his leg.
Maroulis also filed a restraining order against Reed, a rep for the singer confirmed.
The email in question was written to the singer's lawyers detailing the events that led to the couple's fight, but he cc'd her and clicked send, the rep said.
Maroulis finished in sixth place on American Idol in 2005. He went on to star on Broadway in Rock of Ages and Jekyll and Hyde.
