Cathriona White Jim Carrey, Jim Carrey confirmed the death of his on-again, off-again girlfriend Cathriona White in a statement to Us Weekly on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
"I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona," the actor, 53, told Us in his statement. "She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."
White, a makeup artist born in Ireland, died from a suspected suicide on Monday, Sept. 28, and left behind a note that reportedly alluded to their recent split.
Authorities confirmed to Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday that a note was found inside White's Sherman Oaks, Calif., residence, where she was pronounced dead on the scene.
White and Carrey first met in 2012, and split several months later. Us confirmed this past May that they had rekindled their romance.
"They're having a great time now," a source told Us at the time. Indeed, as evidenced in Instagram photos from this past summer, White appeared to be enjoying her life with her beau.
The two remained together through at least Sept. 16, when Carrey last mentioned her on social media. "Grand Central, NYC," the actor captioned an artsy photo of himself standing under an arched awning on Twitter. "Photo by Cathriona White." Click here for more recent sightings of Carrey.
