Ariana Grande Acknowledges Her "Very Offensive" Behavior in Donut-Licking Incident on Live Television

Ariana Grande Acknowledges Her "Very Offensive" Behavior in Donut-Licking Incident on Live Television, One Last Time... discussing donuts. A contrite Ariana Grande apologized (yet again) for her outrageous donut-licking incident from this past July.

Grande, 22, stopped by Good Morning America on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and said she has digested several takeaways from the controversy. "I think one of the biggest things I learned from that was what it feels like to disappoint so many people who love and believe in you," the "Problem" crooner told ABC. "And that’s an excruciating feeling... You have to remember that your words, your actions, have, you know, ramifications and you have to really think about what you’re about to say and do because it’s important. It’s important to so many people."

In her first television interview since the fiasco erupted, Grande acknowledged her unsettling actions. (As evidenced in footage, the pop phenom and a pal stopped by Wolfee Donuts in Elsinore, Calif., in July, when they decided to covertly lick and spit on a bunch of donuts later purchased by customers. She was also captured on camera sniping, "I hate Americans, I hate America!” — on Independence Day, of all days.)

My behavior was very offensive and I apologized," Grande told GMA on Tuesday. "There’s no excuse or there’s nothing to justify it." After TMZ posted the video, the singer also released a formal apology to her millions of fans via YouTube, and also sent Us Weekly a separate statement. "I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I’ve always made it clear that I love my country," the "Break Free" songstress said at the time. "What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the donuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words... That being said let me once again apologize if I have offended anyone with my poor choice of words."

Reflecting back on that time period, Grande noted on Tuesday that she's flawed and still in the process of growing up. "I think that as human beings we all say and do things that we don’t mean at all sometimes and we have to learn from it, I mean, it’s part of our process,” she told GMA. “We have to learn from our mistakes and that’s how we grow.”
Wolfee Donuts was downgraded from an A to B grade after the incident took place, but the bake shop decided not to press charges against Grande.

Now, the singer her turning her attention from sweets to smells. “I’m fairly new to the fragrance industry, I guess, but it is kind of like making a song,” Grande said of launching her debut perfume, ARI by Ariana Grande. “You pick a bunch of different notes and they can either make like a really pretty chord or an ugly chord and it smells awful or it smells great."
