Andy Moeller Suspended: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction on Browns OL Coach

Andy Moeller Suspended: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction on Browns OL Coach, Berea prosecutor Jim Walters is in the process of determining whether or not he'll file charges against Browns offensive line coach Andy Moeller for allegedly assaulting a woman at his home.

Berea police spokesman Lt. Joseph Hedinger told Northeast Ohio Media Group that the prosecutor would review the report later this morning.

Moeller, who has been suspended indefinitely by the Browns because of the incident, is facing assault charges after a female guest in his home filed a complaint against him, according to the police report obtained by Northeast Ohio Media Group.

The alleged victim later changed her mind and decided she wanted to drop the charges, but the original complaint has been turned over to the prosecutor.

Moeller's name has been redacted from the report because he was not arrested and has not yet been charged. But Ohio open record laws state that his name should not be redacted.

The victim's name does not appear in the report. Body camera footage of the incident and the 9-1-1 calls have not yet been released.

It remains to be seen if the Browns will reinstate Moeller if he's not charged.

Moeller, who was also suspended in 2011 by the NFL for drunk driving, had three alcohol-related incidents between 2007 and 2011 and almost lost his job with the Ravens as a result.

On Saturday just after 9 p.m., police were called to Eastland Road in regards to a female reporting an assault that occurred in a home. The victim had left the home and spoke to officers on Eastland Road, while other officers spoke to a second party at the home.

There were conflicting reports about what occurred and no initial injuries were observed.

The matter was to be handed over to the prosecutor and the victim was taken to a hotel in Middleburg Heights at her request.

At about midnight, the victim called police again and said she wished to pursue charges and had an injury from the incident that was not immediately visible. An assault complaint was signed as a result of the second call. But at about 7:55 a.m., police were called to the hotel again at the victim's request, and she said she wanted to drop the charges. She was informed that the original complaint would be forwarded to the prosecutor.

The Browns released the following statement Sunday afternoon:

"Browns offensive line coach Andy Moeller has been suspended indefinitely by the team effective immediately. Over the weekend, Andy was involved in an incident, involving allegations that we take very seriously. We have followed our internal protocol, determining that right now it is best for the team and for Andy to take time away from the organization to focus on his personal matters. We are going to respect the process of investigation on this personal matter and will have no further comment at this time."
