TV’s Judge Joe Brown Is Used To Sending People To Jail…Now the Tables Have Turned

TV’s Judge Joe Brown Is Used To Sending People To Jail…Now the Tables Have Turned, Joe Brown, the Tennessee attorney who rose to national prominence by hosting the daytime reality program Judge Joe Brown, recently found himself on the other side of a courtroom ruling.

WMC reported this week that Brown recently reported to jail to serve five days on charges stemming from his behavior as a lawyer in a child custody case last year.

Excuse me,” he told the juvenile court magistrate after learning the court could not find his client’s paperwork, “you need to straighten yourself out.”

The judge tacked on additional days behind bars each time Brown made another accusatory statement.

After taking his appeal all the way to the Tennessee Supreme Court, it was ultimately denied. As he arrived to serve his sentence, Brown was greeted by a number of supporters. Many held signs with messages such as “I stand with Joe.”Social media efforts to raise awareness of what some say is an unjustified conviction are also under way, with many allies posting with the hashtag #ISupportJoe.He spoke to WMC from his vehicle, comparing himself to other important figures he apparently feels represented his current struggle.

“You might have asked Mandela,” he said, “Martin Luther King, Rev. Lowery, Stokely Carmichael. You might ask those people who just got arrested in Ferguson what it’s all about. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do and stand up for justice.”

In case his brand of justice was not fully clear, he used his last statement as a free man to share some race-based social commentary.

“Black lives matter,” he declared.
