Ted Cruz Bacon, He may fashion himself conservative, but there's nothing traditional about the way Ted Cruz eats his bacon.
In a short online video produced by IJReview titled "Making Machine-Gun Bacon with Ted Cruz," the 2016 candidate demonstrates that happiness — at least at breakfast time — is literally a warm gun.
"There are few things I enjoy more than on the weekend cooking breakfast with the family," the Texas Republican senator says in the video. "Of course, in Texas, we cook bacon a little differently than most folks."
A video montage then plays showing Cruz, an ardent supporter of gun rights, purchasing raw bacon at a grocery store and cooking it with the hot barrel of a just-fired machine gun — providing an entirely new meaning for the expression "pork-barrel politics."
The video shows strips of the raw meat being delicately wrapped around the barrel of the gun and then covered in aluminum foil.Cruz then fires off several rounds from the deadly rifle at a target on what appears to be a gun range — generating enough heat to cook the bacon.
Grease is seen dripping from the barrel, and eventually, Cruz peels back the foil to reveal the cooked breakfast meat.
He then eats a piece with a fork, and exclaims, "Mmm, machine gun bacon."
Cruz, who has been an outspoken defender of the Second Amendment, is slated to participate on Thursday night's first-of-the-season Republican 2016 debate on Fox News Channel.
