Rapper Sean Price Has Died in His Sleep at 43, Saturday, Aug. 8. The Brooklyn native was a member of the hip-hop groups Boot Camp Clik, Random Axe, and Heltah Skeltah.
"It is with beyond a heavy heart that Duck Down Music is sadly confirming that Sean Price passed away early this morning in his Brooklyn apartment, Saturday, August 8th, 2015. The cause of death is currently unknown, but it was reported that he died in his sleep. He’s survived by his wife, and his three children," a rep for Price said in a statement Saturday, via Rolling Stone.
The statement continued: "Sean's family and friends are asking for time to grieve and process the news. Further details will be issued when more information is available."
Price, formerly known as Ruck, first teamed up with Heltah Skeltah member Jamal Bush on Smif-N-Wessun’s album Dah Shinin’ in 1995. In 1996, they released their own debut album titled Nocturnal. During his solo career, Price dropped three more albums: Monkey Barz (2005), Jesus Price Supastar (2007), and Mic Tyson (2012).
Price’s friends and fans took to social media Saturday to mourn the loss. “R.I.P. Ruck....Love and Respect to The Duck Down Family!!!” DJ Premiere captioned an Instagram photo of the late star. “#SeanPrice.”
