Edward Snowden Crayfish

Edward Snowden Crayfish, A German researcher was so "impressed" by Edward Snowden that he named a new species of crayfish after the former National Security Agency contractor.

"The new species is named after the American freedom fighter Edward Joseph Snowden. He is honored due to his extraordinary achievements in defense of justice, and freedom," Christian Lukhaup wrote in his paper published Monday in the journal ZooKeeys.

Lukhaup has named new species before, but told the Washington Post that he wanted to use his discovery's naming rights to show support for the whistleblower.

"We have so many species named after other famous people who probably don't do so much for humanity. I wanted to show support for Edward Snowden. I think what he did is something very special," Lukhaup told Post.
