Texas Man Builds Miniature House in Hopes of Avoiding College Debt

Joel Weber said he's resolved to acquire less school obligation by living in the little, 145-square-foot house he constructed, as opposed to attempting to pay higher lease in his school town of Austin, Texas.

"I needed a spot to call home," Weber told ABC News. "I needed it to be moderate so I could be without obligation and let it be a speculation to offer back to the group — not simply dumped into rent that I wouldn't get any arrival on."

Weber, who will start his lesser year at the University of Texas at Austin, said it can cost upwards of $800 a month to live in the territory close to his school.In an offer to spare himself from further obligation, the 25-year-old said it was summer 2014 when he concluded that he'd manufacture his own home, instead of pushing over higher expenses for a flat, or on-grounds residences.

The home, Weber said, took one year to finish and expense an expected $20,000.

"I set aside a considerable amount and what I didn't have, family, companions, and the group around me gave materials," he said. "I composed it and worked with a craftsman and circuit repairman who both volunteered their time.

"I do finishing, I house sit, I babysitter for somebody in the range, and when I have additional cash, I can charge individuals a bit less to bail them out," Weber included. "It's about having the capacity to offer back to these individuals in my group."
