President Obama to visit El Reno, Durant next week, President Barack Obama one week from now will visit a federal jail in Oklahoma as part of a Vice special on the criminal equity framework, the White House announced Friday. Obama will turn into the first sitting president to visit a federal jail.
Accompanied by Vice president and host of the special Shane Smith, Obama will visit El Reno federal jail and meet with inmates, jail staff and law authorization officers. The meetings in the medium-security jail facility will be featured in a HBO documentary that will examine the impact of the present criminal equity frameworks on detainees, families and the judicial framework.
"There's a developing accord in this nation - on both the privilege and the left - that the way we treat criminal offenders is absolutely softened and weakening our general public up profound ways," Smith, who is also the host of VICE's Emmy award-winning documentary arrangement on HBO, said in a statement. "Going by El Reno with President Obama - the first-ever visit to a federal jail by a sitting president - will give our viewers a firsthand investigate how the president is pondering this issue, from the approach level down to one on one conversations with the men and ladies living this reality. It will be fascinating."
