Leroy Smith told The Associated Press on Wednesday he just saw a man who required help. A photograph revealing to him helping the unidentified man wearing a bigot T-shirt has turned into a web sensation.
Smith says the man in the photograph was the second individual he helped up the Statehouse ventures in the 100-degree heat. He says the first man could stroll up the progressions all alone, however it was clear the man in the photograph proved unable.
So he put his arm around his body and honed him to the top, as pressures between the Klansmen and nonconformists behind police blockades mounted.
