"I wouldn't say it [UCI World Record] was the hardest thing I've ever done. You have a go at driving the Tour for two weeks, looking behind you consistently. Yet, its a quantifiable record, which is the thing that attracts me to it. It will never surpass the Tour in power or trouble yet its such an unadulterated thing. There are no ifs or buts."

By the by, the UCI record is viewed as one of the hardest difficulties in cycling, and the 35-year-old Wiggins needed to experience six weeks of tiring preparing to plan.

Yet, there's one inexorability that originates from breaking a record like the UCI – a sore butt.

Bradley Wiggins clarified.

"It's one of the inevitables of riding the track. It was the most recent 10 minutes, I saw that more than anything. It's difficult to take a seat right now. No shying far from that, fortunately I had a fair seat. I don't know how Eddy Merckx did it on one of those plastic things."
