Shark Bites Boy,A 11-year-old kid endured serious wounds after he was chomped by a shark in Cocoa Beach, Brevard County Fire Rescue authorities said.
The tyke was bit soon after 11 a.m. close Lori Wilson Park Sunday and was taken to an Orlando healing center through helicopter as an injury ready patient.
"Our lifeguard recognized the casualty in the water when he saw he was by all accounts in trouble. He ran out there, saw that he had been bit, completed him of the water and promptly performed crisis help," said Brevard Ocean Rescue Assistant Chief Eisen Witcher.A witness said she saw the shark seconds before it bit the kid.
"My girl and I were way out on a surfboard and two major waves came in. On the second huge wave, we saw what appeared to be an adolescent bull shark," said Stephanie Yelenosky. "Around 15 seconds after the fact we saw a gathering of individuals in knee-high water and we heard shouting, so we realized that the shark likely had gotten confounded or terrified and took a chomp at some individual."
The kid endured an extreme slash to one side calf.
"It was one of the most noticeably awful (shark chomps) that we've seen around here as of late," said Witcher.
Yelenosky said the assault won't keep her out of the water.
"The child took care of it as best as possible. He did extraordinary and I think the family did incredible. The lifeguard and Brevard flame salvage did marvelous. They were correct no top of it," Yelenosky said. "I'm brought up in Orlando and this is shark domain. We're attacking them and we attempt to be as conscious as possible. Mishaps happen and that is this was. It was a grievous mishap."
Authorities have not discharged the casualty's name.
