Marvel Tests Spider-Man, As indicated by The Hollywood Reporter throughout the weekend, Marvel Studios held throughout the day screen-tests Saturday for six on-screen characters competing for the title part in the up and coming Marvel created/Sony-appropriated Spider-Man relaunch. Anonymous sources tell THR that the on-screen characters are Tom Holland, Asa Butterfield, Judah Lewis, Matthew Lintz, Charlie Plummer and Charlie Rowe.
This marginally goes against a late Deadline report that guaranteed Asa Butterfield was in "right on time talks" with Marvel for the part.
The tests apparently occurred in Atlanta, not a long way from the taping of Captain America: Civil War, and that whomever was picked would join the cast in that film. Present at the screen-tests were Marvel Studios' leader Kevin Feige, previous Sony head Amy Pascal, and Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War chiefs Joe and Anthony Russo.
THR reports that Marvel cast a wide net to think that its Spider-Man, taking a gander at more than "1,500 young men from around the globe" with them narrowing it down to this six in May.
