Jon Batiste Tapped As The New Band Leader For “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”, At the point when Stephen Colbert's The Late Show debuts on Sept. 8, he'll have a helping hand on camera from jazz artist Jon Batiste, his newly appointed band pioneer.

"His music makes the group of onlookers feel so great, we may need to install a 'Don't Make Love' sign," Colbert said in a CBS statement announcing Batiste's role.In a short feature, Colbert also introduced New Orleans-reared Batiste, whose latest album with his band Stay Human asserted the No. 1 spot on Billboard Jazz Album Chart (listen, below).Batiste, who lives in New York City, is an alum of Juilliard and associate artistic executive of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. He has performed with Prince, Wynton Marsalis and Lenny Kravitz, among other artists.

"I'm excited," Batiste, who will release another album this fall, said in the statement. "This is a match made in paradise. Get prepared for an affection revolt in late night."

The Late Show will be taped at New York City's Ed Sullivan Theater. CBS will uncover the show's producers and more details about the show's structure before September.
