DC Intern Gun Arrest, State house police captured an understudy for Kansas Rep. Lynn Jenkins, a top individual from the Republican gathering, on Monday morning for professedly bringing an emptied handgun into the Longworth House Office Building.
Police said they discovered the weapon, an emptied Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun, amid the normal pursuit that all guests experience at the passage of the workplace building.
The powers captured Joshua Wheeler, a 25-year-old Kansas man functioning as a paid assistant in Jenkins' office, on charges of conveying the weapon without a permit and for having an unregistered gun.
"Mr. Wheeler utilized misguided thinking and was quickly put on interim leave," Tom Brandt, a Jenkins representative, told The Hill.
"It's our understanding that this was a mishap and we are in full participation with Capitol Police."
He included that Wheeler had been working for the congresswoman since May 18.
The capture happened at the New Jersey Avenue and C Street passage of the workplace building, which is home base for some officials. Police cautions demonstrated that the passage had been shut off from around 9 until 9:10 a.m. the same number of congressional staff members and administrators documented in after the Memorial day break.
