Cruise Ship Hits Wall, A voyage boat struck a divider in the Eisenhower Lock in upstate New York on Thursday night, harming a few travelers, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
Michael Lecuyer, with St. Lawrence County Emergency Services, told CNN that 17 individuals endured extremely minor wounds.
CNN subsidiary WWNY said the harmed, joined by 13 of their relatives, were removed the boat, the Saint Laurent, to be looked at a neighborhood doctor's facility. All were dealt with and released before being taken back to the boat early Friday.
There were 274 individuals, including travelers and group, on board the 286-foot voyage ship when it hit the lock divider in the Saint Lawrence Seaway in Massena, the Coast Guard said in a news discharge.
Starting 6 a.m. ET Friday, the journey boat stayed in the lock and all the travelers are still on board, Lecuyer said.
Auditors will evaluate the harm amid the morning and figure out whether and when the boat will have the capacity to leave, he said.
A Coast Guard vessel was conveyed to the scene late Thursday from Alexandria Bay, New York.
The reason for the impact is as yet being examined.
The Saint Lawrence Seaway expands more than 2,000 miles from the Atlantic Ocean to the leader of the Great Lakes.
The Eisenhower Lock is one of two U.S. bolts on the 10-mile-long Wiley-Dondero Canal, which gives access to Lake St. Lawrence.
