A jury indicted Gigi Jordan, 54, of homicide in the first degree in the New York state incomparable court in November over the February 2010 passing of her child Jude Mirra at the Peninsula Hotel.
Jordan, a previous pharmaceutical official, registered with the ultra-costly Fifth Avenue inn with Jude on February 3, 2010.
She was discovered blameworthy of lethally harming her child, by driving high measurements of physician recommended medicine down his throat with a syringe between that night and the early hours of February 5.
She was later discovered sitting beside the bed where her child lay lethargic, encompassed by pills and pill bottles.
Manhattan head prosecutor Cyrus Vance respected the sentencing.
"Nobody - and especially no kid - merits the sort of death that Jude Mirra endured because of his mom," Vance said.
"The harming and slaughtering of an eight-year-old kid is a planned demonstration of kid misuse. Following five years, equity has at last been presented with today's sentence of 18 years."
