Ecuador's Galapagos National Park organization said the mile-high (1.7 kilometer-high) Wolf well of lava started retching fire, smoke and magma before day break Monday.
The well of lava lies on the northern tip of Isabela Island, the archipelago's biggest. It's a long way from the main populace focus, Puerto Villamil, 70 miles (115 kilometers) toward the south. Powers said no visitor action was influenced.
