Leader Denis Coderre met with official Rob Manfred in New York on Thursday. Coderre says six or seven groups have communicated an enthusiasm for playing in Montreal in 2016.
Montreal had the Expos from 1969 through 2004. The group then moved to Washington and turned into the Nationals.
A couple of display diversions in Montreal between the Blue Jays and Reds in right on time April drew an aggregate of more than 96,000 fans to Olympic Stadium.
Manfred as of late said the interest indicated by Montreal implied the city had effectively breezed through the first test toward the arrival of MLB. Manfred has said the city would require another stadium to get a development group or a club to move.
