Denis Coderre Expos:Montreal mayor wants MLB games in 2016, The chairman of Montreal has solicited the magistrate from Major League Baseball to consider playing three or four consistent season recreations in the city one year from now.

Chairman Denis Coderre met with magistrate Rob Manfred in New York on Thursday. Coderre says six or seven groups have communicated an enthusiasm for playing there in 2016.

Montreal had the Expos from 1969 through 2004. The group then moved to Washington and turned into the Nationals.

A couple of display recreations in Montreal between the Blue Jays and Reds in ahead of schedule April drew an aggregate of more than 96,000 fans to Olympic Stadium.

Manfred as of late said the interest indicated by Montreal implied the city had effectively finished the first test toward an arrival of baseball. Manfred has said the city would require another stadium to get a development group or a club to migrate.
