Chad Mudd Joey Mudd, Joey and Chad Mudd have been arrested on charges that they supplied their teen daughters with cocaine and marijuana for doing their household chores. The young teens, age 13 and 14, were given the drugs for positive reinforcement or as a “bargaining tool,” to get them motivated in school and at home, according to MSN News on May 7.
The couple were arrested in their St. Petersburg home on Monday, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s detectives. Chad, 36, the girls' father works at an area beach bar and Joey, 34, the girls' mother is said to work for an area pediatrician’s office.
The father was charged with six counts of child abuse and one count of possession of cocaine. The mother is charged with two counts of child abuse.
According to the affidavit filed in court, the mother revealed that she smoked pot with her daughters five times and the father snorted cocaine in his truck with the teens and one of his daughter's boyfriends.
According to Scallywag and Vagabond, these parents have found an interesting way to prod their kids to get moving. The website sarcastically called this "stellar" bargaining tools for their kids to do their homework and chores. Joey Mudd was released on $5,000 bond on Wednesday and told not to have any contact with her kids. Chad was released on Thursday.
It is not known how the authorities found out about the Mudds' parenting style, but according to the affidavits, it was the mom, Joey Mudd who conceded that the girls were given drugs. It is also not clear as to where her kids are living today.
Pictures of the parents are on various social media sites and the husband looks as if he is enjoying the life you'd might expect from a college kid. He is seen in several photos in a bar setting like the one above. Is this a case of the parents wanting to appear like "cool parents?"
