Blake Countess to Auburn: Former Michigan CB Announces Transfer to Tigers

Blake Countess to Auburn: Former Michigan CB Announces Transfer to Tigers, The Auburn Tigers got a major boost to their secondary Tuesday, as former Michigan Wolverines cornerback Blake Countess transferred to the school for his final year of eligibility.

He'll instantly upgrade Auburn's secondary. Since he already graduated from Michigan, the senior is eligible to play right away. Countess brings the experience of 30 starts and an All-Big Ten honorable mention last season.

JC Shurburtt of 247Sports believes Auburn got an excellent player.

According to Alex Scarborough of ESPN.com, Countess is now the fifth Michigan player to transfer since Jim Harbaugh took over as coach in late December, a list that includes running back Justice Hayes, offensive lineman Jack Miller, quarterback Russell Bellomy and tight end Keith Heitzman. That's not completely shocking. New coaching hires tend to shake up the program to their liking when they arrive at a school, and Harbaugh has enough of a pedigree to make the changes he deems necessary. He has a well-defined philosophy, and many Michigan recruits from the previous regime may not feel they fit well into his approach.

Perhaps Countess is one of them. Regardless, Auburn will simply be happy to bring aboard a talented, experienced cornerback who upgrades one of the weaker units on the team. Expect him to start immediately and adjust to SEC play without issue.
