Abandoned Baby Nebraska, Nebraska police have identified an 11-month-old boy discovered crying in a Dumpster.
A neighbor at an apartment complex in La Vista heard what he thought was an animal and looked inside to find the abandoned child on Wednesday evening.
"There was some trash in there," police Capt. Jeremy Kinsey told the Daily News. "He was sitting right on top of the trash."
The infant was covered in lint and wearing a soiled diaper, a neighor told WOWT.
The adorable, dark-haired boy was crying but otherwise uninjured. Paramedics checked him out at the scene, before taking him to Children's Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha.
The boy was initially a mystery that left police searching for his mom and dad. They've since identified the child but have yet to release his name. The child was discovered about 6 p.m. local time, and cops quickly circulated a picture of him and asked for information.
"I just can't believe that someone can do that, just discard a baby like it's a piece of trash," witness Emily Winkle said.
Investigators hauled away the Dumpster and hoped to recover forensic evidence as they investigate, authorities said.
