White Sox set to promote top pitching prospect Carlos Rodon

White Sox set to promote top pitching prospect Carlos Rodon, Move over, Kris Bryant. There's another big-time prospect coming to Chicago.

According to multiple reports, the White Sox are expected to call-up 22-year-old left-hander Carlos Rodon on Monday. The move was first reported by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Rodon was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 MLB draft following a stellar college career at N.C. State. He pitched well in spring training, putting up a 3.06 ERA with five walks and 21 strikeouts over 17 2/3 innings, but was assigned to Triple-A Charlotte to start the season. In two Triple-A starts, the big lefty went 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA.

The plan is for Rodon to be used in relief by the White Sox, just like they did with Chris Sale when he first arrived in the big leagues. Sale pitched exlusively out of the bullpen in 2010 and 2011 before making the jump to the rotation in 2012.

Rodon probably won't have to wait that long to get his chance to start. There's a strong possibility he makes his first major league start sometime in 2015 and earns a spot in the rotation.Given the success Sale has had, it's no surprise to see the White Sox follow the same path with their latest electric left-hander.
