New Jersey Tornado Watch

New Jersey Tornado Watch, A round of strong storms are heading for the Garden State this evening triggered a tornado watch in several South Jersey counties.


The National Weather Service has issued the watch for Camden, Salem, Cumberland and Gloucester counties until 10 p.m.

A tornado watch means the conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms to form but could also produce a tornado. A warning would mean a tornado has formed or will shortly based on radar, according to NWS.

The thunderstorms rolling into those areas could bring hail large enough to damage cars, according to forecasters, and wind gusts may be strong enough to knock down trees or power lines. Flash floods are also possible.

In the rest of New Jersey, heavy rain will taper off this evening but will moderate to light rainfall will continue through the night. Thunderstorms are also possible.

Lows will be around 50 degrees. Tuesday, overcast will give way to sun. Highs are expected in the low to mid 60s.

Strong winds will continue with gusts reaching 25 to 30 mph.

At night, temperatures will drop into the high 30s.

Another round of rain is expect Wednesday.
