Kim K. hopes North will be her BFF, Kim Kardashian has had quite the week. First, Amy Schumer tripped/fell in front of her on the red carpet at the Time 100 gala, in a stunt that amused the reality star and seemingly confused/annoyed her husband, Kanye West.
She ended her stint in Manhattan with a Variety lunch on Friday, celebrating the "Power of Women."
On the red carpet before the event, Kardashian talked about the ladies who impacted her life: her grandmother, her mom Kris Jenner, and of course, her daughter North.
"I hope I have the same relationship with her that I do with my mom, that she's my best friend," she said of North.
Kardashian was honored for her work on behalf of Children's Hospital Los Angeles, along with Glenn Close (Bring Change2Mind), Lena Dunham (Girls Educational & Mentoring Services – GEMS), Whoopi Goldberg (Figure Skating in Harlem), and Rachel Weisz (The Opportunity Network).Kardashian actually does quite a bit on behalf of Children's Hospital, but it doesn't get much press. Does that bother her?
"I think that when you do something from your heart, I don't really care to have it publicized. I don't expect it to be publicized. That's just the way the world works. They only care about the ridiculous stories," she says.
Being a parent has made her more socially conscious. "I've always loved kids. Now, I think that just seeing what the parents go through -- not that I didn't have sympathy before -- I have this deep compassion that I understand as a parent," she said.
On the red carpet, she got a purple pin that marks remembrance of the Armenian genocide -- something that Kardashian has been vocal about. "My daughter wears mine every day," she told the woman giving it to her, before posing for a selfie with her.
Reporters (at least this one) were told ahead of time that Kardashian would only discuss the event at the event.
Meaning, don't go asking about West or their daughter North or her upcoming selfie book Selfish or Bruce Jenner's gender transition.
