Five-Legged Lamb Is Born, A five-legged lamb born in Wales can be seen on the above video playing and bouncing around in his pen next to his mom without any worry. The five-legged lamb was born last week at Rhiwlas Farm near Lake Vyrnwy, Powys, and his owner, 49-year-old farmer Bethan Davies says that the unusual lamb named Jake doesn’t seem to be aware that there is anything unusual about him.
As reported by BBC on April 20, Davies says that Jake “seems really happy, he's feeding well and bouncing around like a normal lamb. He is doing really well."
When five-legged lamb Jake was born last Thursday, Davies’ 16-year-old son Shaun was somewhat confused when he delivered him and could feel an extra leg inside the mother. After Jake’s birth, everyone reacted with “Oh my God, come and look at this!” and no one expected him to live.
Usually, lambs with deformities die soon after birth, said Jake’s owner. But to everyone’s surprise, Jake is not just growing, but he enjoys playing and bouncing around just like any other lamb. As can be seen in the above video, when jumping around, Jake lifts up his fifth leg. When he lies down, he tucks it up beneath him.
The five-legged lamb born in Wales has been checked out by veterinarians who are not only astonished that Jake is alive but that he is thriving. Jake’s owner, who runs a B&B with husband Peter, says that if it wasn’t for his fifth leg, Jake would be destined to be out on the fields to get fat and then end up on the dinner table. Instead, Davies plans to keep the adorable five-legged lamb close to the farm -- and use him as a mascot.
