6 rescued after scaffolding collapse in Houston,  Six workers have been rescued after scaffolding collapsed at an apartment complex under construction in downtown Houston on Friday.

The Houston Fire Department said six workers were taken out on stretchers and rushed to area hospitals. At least three of the victims appeared to be conscious when taken away from the scene. None of the injuries is believed to be life-threatening. No other details were provided on the conditions of the injured.Fire Capt. Ruy Lozano said they believe all of the workers are accounted for, but they are working with construction site managers to make sure.

"We're also concerned that perhaps pedestrians walking nearby could have been involved," said Lozano.

About 200 workers were at the construction site of the seven-story building when the scaffolding collapsed.

The cause of the collapse is unknown.One witness aid the crash sounded like an avalanche.

"We are monitoring the situation very closely and working alongside authorities as we try to determine the cause of this accident. In the mean time, we are grateful to the first responders on the scene and pray that everyone is OK," said Mark Sullivan with The Finger Companies, the owner of the complex being built.

The twisted pile of metal stretched at least a block.

The construction site is across the street from Minute Maid Park, home to the Houston Astros.
