Spring snowstorm continues to pound Wyoming, A 150-mile stretch of Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Rawlins is now closed because of the spring storm that continues to bring snow to southeast Wyoming.Snow is expected to continue to fall periodically across the region through much of Friday, with rain falling at lower elevations.


Snowfall amounts included 5 inches at Cheyenne, around 10 inches in the Laramie area and a foot or more in the mountains of Albany and Carbon counties.

On Thursday, a 50-mile stretch of I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie was closed after several pileups involving about 50 cars and trucks on both sides of the highway west of Cheyenne.

No fatalities were reported but about two dozen people were taken to a hospital in Cheyenne. The most critical had back and leg injuries.
